While I was living in Shenzhen, I took part in a bi-annual Teacher’s Conference that was held in Guangzhou. It would be my very first time in Guangzhou. As the previous Teacher’s Conference had been held in Shenzhen, I got to meet some new friends that were based in Guangzhou and because of that, I was fortunate enough that some of these new friends were able to show me a few little bits of Guangzhou that I otherwise wouldn’t have found if I was left to explore the city alone that day.
After the conference, we had a little bit of free time before our dinner cruise along the Pearl River. One of my friends took me for a quick walk along the water and it just so happened that there was some sort of competition that night and the River was lined with boats representing different countries.
The sky had already become dark at this point, so all of the lights along the bridge and the surrounding area were all lit up.
The cruise itself was actually not that enjoyable. Being on a cruise with hundreds of Chinese people during a buffet just isn’t the best idea. Most of us just sat back and watched as they quickly served themselves. They must have been wondering why we weren’t in line for the food.
