I had heard from numerous people that a day trip to Manly is necessary when in Sydney, so I added this to my list of things to do on my 2nd last day in the city.
It is extremely easy to get to Manly, as the ferries run frequently. My ferry rides in both directions were quite empty, so I was quite surprised when I arrived at Manly Wharf to a sea of people. From the Wharf, you can walk through the Corso, which is a pedestrian street lined with shops and restaurants, to get to Manly Beach. The area looked very touristy and reminded me a bit of Santa Monica Beach in Los Angeles.
I decided to take a stroll along the beach towards Shelly Beach and was immediately met with some amazing views.
I soon reached Fairy Bower Beach, where the famous Sea Nymphs Sculpture resides.
After enjoying an easy walk to Shelly Beach, I made my way back towards Manly Beach and the Wharf. As I was waiting for my ferry back to Sydney, I noticed that there was a Betty’s Burger located inside the Wharf. I was almost tempted to order a burger from there again, knowing full well that I would likely not be able to enjoy Betty’s Burger again. In the end, I resisted, as I had to save room for a dinner I had planned. On the ferry ride back, as if rewarding me for not giving into the burger temptation, I was awarded with a close-up of the Opera House.
