A Morning At The Getty Villa

We couldn’t see the Getty Museum because it is closed on Mondays, so we made our way to the Getty Villa instead.  The museum was built in the 50s as an extension of the Getty Museum, when J. Paul Getty ran out of room to house his humongous art collection at the Getty Museum.  Although famous for the Greek and Roman art and architecture, some parts of the museum actually reminded me of Northern African architectural styles.

The Getty Villa isn’t that big, so you can easily walk around on your own.  They also offer guided tours throughout the day, so make sure to grab a schedule upon entering to see which tours you’d like to participate in.

Parking is a steep $15 and although admission is free, you do need to go online to get a timed entry ticket before your visit.
