We spent a little bit of time at the Griffith Observatory on our first day in LA. We went in the middle of the afternoon, which was about 12 hours after we had woken up that day so we were all a bit sluggish to say the least.
When we first arrived, the skies were the bluest I’d ever seen in LA.
We made our way inside to look at some of the exhibits, including the one that tells you how much you weigh on all of the different planets. Our favourite was Pluto, where the weight of 5 adults totaled only 50lbs!
If you are a science or astronomy fan, you will definitely enjoy a visit to the Griffith Observatory. Even if you aren’t a science or astronomy fan, you will still enjoy the views of the city from the Observatory.
Unfortunately, the weather looked like it was taking a turn for the worse and we left after a short visit. It is a popular attraction and parking is definitely an issue here. We saw cars parked all the way at the bottom of the hill, with people hiking up to the observatory. The funny thing is, parking costed the same regardless of whether you are parked at the bottom of the hill or whether you are parked right in the Observatory’s parking lot.
