We had plans to join the 12:30pm tour of Safeco Field and met our guide, Jim P, who turned out to be a retired baseball fan who volunteered at the Field by giving tours. In fact, we found out later on that all of the guides were retired volunteers.
It was a small tour with a total of 5 people, but Jim told us that they were actually waiting on a big group of over 100 guests, who they were still trying to get a hold of, to confirm whether or not they were coming in. Thankfully, they didn’t end up confirming before our tour began. I can’t imagine it would be a fun experience to have to go on a tour with over 100 people!
The tour was interesting and took us into all these places inside the stadium that I would probably never ever see in my life – owner’s suite, player’s dining quarters, press room, etc.
It was quite interesting to see an empty press room. I thought it would be more inviting, but it was actually just a bare, cold, uninteresting room with no windows.
We were in the area where all the press sit for the games and I guess balls get hit into there sometimes! Imagine typing away at your computer to look up and see a ball coming right at you!
