We had just finished visiting the Bund on an extremely gloomy afternoon and were on our way back towards the downtown core of Shanghai when we decided to stop and rest at the Fairmont. As the representative Canadian hotel, of course we had to stop in and see what the Shanghai version looked like.
The hotel definitely did not disappoint and was on par with every other Fairmont that I’ve visited. It was the beginning of December, so they had some Christmas decorations up. I’ll have to admit, the Christmas decorations were not as extravagant as I expected, but I guess from a Chinese perspective, where Christmas isn’t even a holiday, the effort was very much appreciated. We walked around the public areas for a bit and then sat down for a nice cup of coffee in one of the cafes.
A few months later, I would visit once again and this time they had Chinese New Years’ decorations up.
