The Cherry Blossom Season is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Korea and Japan and tourists come from all over in hopes to get a glimpse of these little flowers that represent the beginning of spring.
We started the day with a visit to the 63 Building, which is one of the representative skyscrapers of Seoul. At 63 stories high (how did you guess?), the building is located on Yeouidi Island and has a great view of the Han River that runs through Seoul. At the base of the building, there was this metal art piece that looked like trees, which I thought was quite interesting.
When you purchase tickets to take the elevator up to the top, you realize that the elevator actually only reaches floor 60, which is where the viewing platform is located. The top 3 floors are actually restricted to the public.
At the top, there are numerous mirrors with stickers on them, which I still have yet to figure out.
It was a bit of an overcast day, but nonetheless, I was still able to get a good view of Seoul from the top of the building. I was actually surprised that weren’t more buildings in the surrounding area, but I guess this is due to the fact that the 63 Building is located on an island.

After the 63 Building, we made our way to the surrounding Yeouido Park to see some of the cherry blossoms. The park was crowded as many people had the same idea.
I can understand why people love the Cherry Blossom Season in Asia, as I fully agree that it is one of the most beautiful times of year. Yeouido Park was unique in that there was also a backdrop of green grass and trees as well, whereas the other times I’ve seen cherry blossoms, they were the only focus and nothing else was around.
