I had booked a night at the Clover Guestrooms due to the location and the economic costs. Check in was at the Beehive, on the other side of the train station, which means you will need to lug your suitcase all the way back across the other side of the station to get to Clover Guestrooms. Thankfully, both the Beehive and Clover were not more than a couple blocks away from the train station.
Clover Guestrooms is managed by the Beehive, and check in at the Beehive was a bit painful as the lady at the front desk was probably the least friendly person I met on this trip. Every question I asked was met with a curt answer and it felt like she was just trying to get me to leave as quickly as possible. It definitely wasn’t a very good first impression and I’m glad I only had to deal with her once.
I made my way to Clover, which turned out to be an apartment building where many locals lived in. There is a short set of stairs up to an elevator which will take you up to the 5th floor where Clover is located. The common area was nice and the two bathrooms were clean but drains were running a bit slow. The kitchen consisted of a dining table, fridge, microwave and sink. The views from the balcony of my room were very nice.
My only complain about Clover is the locks. Both my room and one of the bathrooms had such a difficult lock and you really had to force the door close before you could lock it, which meant that any time you shut the doors, you made quite a loud noise.
As Clover was located very close to the train station, there were often groups of people hanging out near the entrance of the apartment building, which could be a bit concerning. However, I didn’t experience any issues.
