One of my local friends took me to Macau Street for chicken curry once and after that, I was hooked. I then proceeded to take some of my foreign co-workers there and later, even took my sister when she came to visit me in Guangzhou.
Macau Street is a big chain but I’ve always gone to the one in Tianhe in Guangzhou. The restaurant is humongous and easily could hold thousands of people. In all of the time that I’ve been there, I’ve only eaten the same two things over and over. Why mess with a good thing?
The two dishes that I love from this place are the Curry Chicken (澳門咖喱雞) and the cabbage with preserved duck eggs in soup (上湯娃娃菜). The chicken is boneless, which is not very common in China and the curry sauce is very mild but savoury enough to make the chicken delicious. The vegetables in soup are not quite as wonderful as the curry, but since I love preserved duck eggs, this elevated the dish for me.
