My second meal in Melbourne was at Din Tai Fung. I had only tried Din Tai Fung twice before, in Los Angeles and Seattle and both times, it was amazing. So now I have a rule that I follow, whereby I always need to dine at Din Tai Fung if there is one in the city I’m visiting.
I arrived only 30 minutes prior to closing, so it wasn’t that busy and I was seated within minutes. It was late and I wasn’t too hungry, so I only ended up ordering two items – xiaolongbao and the spicy shrimp and pork wonton. These are two of my favourite menu items.
On my way out the door, I noticed they had a sign with the top recommendations, and was happy to find out that I did order two of the most recommended items.
It’s unfortunate that I wasn’t able to try more items, but it had been a long day of travel and I was exhausted and ready to head back to the hotel to rest. The meal was just as delicious as all the previous times I’ve had Din Tai Fung, so I will definitely need to continue my rule of always visiting any Din Tai Fung I come across.
