My sister was in the middle of a one year study program in Japan and decided to take me to one of her favourite restaurants near her school. This place was not only close to her campus, but was also quite economical for Japanese standards.
Upon arrival, I was surprised to find out that it was an Indian restaurant. The reason I was surprised was because of where the restaurant was located. If it had been an Indian restaurant in Tokyo, Osaka, or any of the other larger Japanese cities, it wouldn’t be out of place at all. But this was a very small town between Osaka and Kyoto, with the most famous buildings, likely being the ones on the campus of Kansai Gaidai University.
The restaurant was small but cozy and the walls were lined with some Indian décor. We ordered some chicken curry as well as two different kinds of naan and were brought some complimentary soup to start. All of the food was amazing and I can see why my sister would visit this place frequently. She also mentioned that there have been many times where they have generously given her extra naan for free.
If you’re in the Kansai area and looking for some Indian food, make sure to keep this place in mind.
