Giant Wild Goose Pagoda 大雁塔

The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Xi’An.  It is a Buddhist pagoda built during the Tang Dynasty, when Xi’An was the capital city of China. Since then, it has been rebuilt and repaired extensively.

Admission costs ¥50 to enter the complex where the Big Goose Pagoda is located.  We found out later on that the ¥50 admission price doesn’t include the ticket to climb the Pagoda and you need to pay an additional ¥30 at the base of the Pagoda if you wanted to enter and climb to the top.

Although the complex was nice to walk around in, I found the Northern Square outside the Pagoda complex to be much more interesting, and it was free!  The Northern Square was beautiful, clean and there was so much that you can see and do.  The streets are lined with vendors selling snacks and drinks and there are also numerous artists displaying their skills for the visitors.
