Within my first few weeks of moving to China, Chinese New Year’s came and I somehow ended up spending the holidays in Hezhou, a small city in Guangxi. Being the small town that it is, there was pretty much just one attraction in the area – the Purple Cloud Cave.
Upon entering the cave, you are immediately met with an array of coloured lights, lighting up the interior of the cave.
I wasn’t too sure what to make of the cave. We had a guide take us through the cave but I was very distracted by all the colours and lights around me that I didn’t really pay too much attention to him. There weren’t too many people inside that day and we were in and out within 30 minutes. The caves were very pretty but it felt very touristy and it seemed like there wasn’t much effort in keeping the caves more natural.
