I arrived into Hiroshima Station, on my way to Miyajima, but needed to make a brief stop for some lunch before I continued on. Hiroshima Station is quite large, with an abundance of food choices. However, it took me quite a while to find the food court and to finally settle on having some okonomiyaki.
I was fortunate enough to have sat down at one of the places that had an English menu. I chose to try an okonomiyaki with shrimp and meat, which turned out to be a wise choice. The cook who made my okonomiyaki was very friendly and after he found out I was a visiting tourist, he tried very hard to communicate with me in English and even ended up cutting up some fruit for me to take with me.
After filling up on lunch, I made my way outside to catch the train to the ferry terminal. The Hiroshima train station is quite large, so everything has to be clearly labeled and organized for things to run smoothly. I was very impressed with how everything was running outside the station.
It can definitely be confusing for someone that isn’t familiar with the system though. This payment machine and the train tracks are quite intimidating at first glance!
