I stayed at the Metropole Easy Hotel for 2 nights and upon arriving at the Bern Train Station, it is a quick 5 minute walk to the hotel. As long as you can figure out which direction is East, you will be able to find the hotel.
The strange thing about this hotel is that the lady at the reception asked for my name and nothing else. Within 20 seconds of giving my name, she handed me a key and told me which floor my room was on. I was surprised that I didn’t need to provide any ID at all for her to verify the booking.
My room was on the 5th floor right next to the elevator. I was nervous that this would mean that it would be quite loud and I would be woken up every time the elevator arrived on my floor, but this wasn’t the case at all. And there were definitely other people on my floor, as I saw a bunch of “do not disturb” signs that were hung on the doorknobs.
The room was quite spacious and bright. It even had a safe, which was a nice surprise. The bed and pillows were not the most comfortable but was fine for 2 nights. The bathroom was clean, but the water pressure of the shower was a bit lacking.
The location of the hotel was very suitable for me, as I was looking for something that was reasonably priced and located close to the train station. Bärenplatz, the plaza with a big tram stop is only a few minutes away and provided easy access to many of the attractions in Bern. There is also numerous restaurants nearby, as well as a Migros supermarket right across the street.
If you are just looking for a simple, conveniently located place to stay, then this would be a great choice.
