The Millennium Hotel Rotorua is your typical spa/resort hotel. It boasts a great location, close to many restaurants, cafes and sights, as well as a fantastic restaurant for breakfast.
The room I stayed in was spacious and clean. The bathroom was also very large compared to other New Zealand hotels I’ve stayed at. The hotel has a spa, although I wasn’t able to take advantage of it, but it is also located just down the street from the Polynesian Spa, if you wanted another spa option.
This hotel had the second best buffet breakfast I’d had in New Zealand. The selection was massive and even included miso soup and congee. They also had kimchi and other sides for the congee. Aside from an assortment of breads, fruit, cereals, and cold cuts, they also had a few hot items, including bacon, sausage, hashbrowns (but I would call these tater tots), mushrooms, tomatoes and eggs. What I didn’t like is that there is an extra cost if you wanted a coffee with breakfast. The buffet isn’t cheap to begin with, and to not include the coffee seems a bit petty.
I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay at this property and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Rotorua.
