We weren’t too happy with the first riad we had booked into in Marrakech, so we decided that we would look for a new one when we came back from our Sahara tour. We found this riad by chance and from the outside, it looked quite nice. We made an inquiry and they had a superior room for 75 euros a night, which was three times the cost of our original riad but we decided to try it anyways, as we wanted a better room than what we had at our first riad.
The riad is a little further from Jemaa el Fna but still within a 5 minute walk. The room was definitely more specious than our first riad but after seeing it, I did feel that we overpaid. The wifi didn’t work during our entire stay and upon check out I asked for compensation and the owner gave us a 5 euro discount per night.
The breakfast at this riad included the normal coffee, orange juice, and breads but also threw in a piece of chocolate cake.
Overall, I’m not sure that 75 euros was a good value for this riad. The room was quite plain and although more spacious and had air conditioning, it is three times the cost of our original riad. The pictures on their website definitely look better than it does in person. Another inconvenience is that they do not provide you with a key to the front door, so when you return at night, you need to knock or ring the bell and a man will come and open the door for you.
