We had planned to have Din Tai Fung on our last night in Seattle and there was one conveniently located about 15 minutes from our hotel. We arrived just after 7pm and there was an expected lineup. In fact, there was even a lineup to get added to the waiting list. Once we got to the front to put our names on the waiting list, we were told that it was going to be a 60-75 minute wait and to come back in about an hour. So we took the opportunity to walk around the mall a bit, and also visited Daiso in the adjacent mall. We arrived back at Din Tai Fung just after 8pm but it looked like the crowds had not died down at all. We waited and waited and finally at 8:58pm, we heard our name being called. This means that the estimated 60-75 min wait turned out to be closer to 110 minutes.
We had just spent 2 jam packed days in Seattle and we were all quite exhausted (and hungry) after having to wait almost 2 hours. We ordered many items that we were unable to try at the Din Tai Fung in LA previously and everything was top notch.
The restaurant itself did not look like your typical Asian restaurant. Perhaps it is because it’s located on the top floor of a mall. Although it didn’t look like an Asian restaurant, it definitely sounded like one though as it was super loud inside.
Unfortunately, we were all so tired that we couldn’t fully enjoy the meal. We pretty much just scarfed down the food and headed back to the hotel right away.
