The location of the Kyoto Garden Hotel is fantastic. It is only a 1 minute walk from Karasuma Oike metro station, which is the main station for transferring between the North/South and East/West lines. Also, it is just 3 metro stops to Kyoto Station where all the buses and bullet trains stop at. The hotel is also very close to Nijo Castle and Imperial Palace. Nijo Castle is quite a sight at night. We visited around 6:00pm when the sun was just setting. It is extremely memorable and beautiful.
The hotel had 2 computers for guests to use in the lobby. The rooms were small, but bearable. The bathroom however, was the absolute smallest bathroom I’d ever seen before. You could barely fit one person in there! The bathroom was so small that the bathtub did not even have its own faucets. There was only one faucet at the sink and you had to turn a knob to get the water to come out of the showerhead into the bathtub.
Overall it was a good value hotel. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. When we first pulled up, we thought it looked a bit dodgy, as it was located in the middle of this little alley, but once inside, it was alright.
