I arrived into Venezia Mestre station around 8:45pm when the sun had already set. Upon exiting the train station, cross the street and find Via Piave, which should be the only big road visible from the exit of the station. It is the street that the Best Western Bologna is situated on.
Stay on Via Piave for about 10-15 minutes until you reach C. Degan Street, where you will see a small park. Turn right onto C. Degan street and you will see the hotel near the end of the block on your left, tucked away next to a bar.
L’Affittacamere di Venezia only has 6 rooms and the owner is only there when someone is about to check in, so please make sure you advise him of your arrival time. The hallway looked like it was from a 1980s cheap motel but the inside of the room was quite modern. The bathroom was very nice and spacious but both the sink and shower drains were very slow. I’d never seen a shower have hot water so quickly though. Hot water comes out of the shower pretty much the second you turn the water on.
Complimentary breakfast is offered at the bar next door and there is a supermarket about mid-way between the train station and the hotel. Along the walk between the train station and the hotel, you will also find a laundromat, and a bunch of restaurants, bars and shops. Interestingly enough, there seems to be a large Chinese population here as many of the shops and restaurants in the area were owned by people from Zhejiang.
About 2-3 minutes from the hotel is a bus stop which will take you into Venice.
Overall, it was a great stay if you don’t mind the little walk from the station. The cost of the room definitely compensates for the location. The hotel doesn’t have a website, so I made my booking via agoda.
