After trying the famous margherita pizza at Da Michele the day earlier, I knew I wanted to try one more place before I left Naples. I chose Sorbillo, mainly based on the reviews as well as the inviting atmosphere. There are two locations, within a 2-3 minute walk from each other.
The restaurant didn’t open until late morning and although I had arrived soon after opening, the restaurant was already packed and there was a crowd forming outside the door. I was asked to go up to the second level where there were a couple of empty tables left. I was first seated at a larger table, but then they asked me to move to a more crowded corner as there was a larger group coming in.
The menu was all in Italian and although the wait staff spoke some English, I mainly relied on looking at what the tables around me had ordered and choosing my meal that way.
The pizza I ordered was amazing! I really enjoyed everything about it and felt it was superior to the one from Da Michele. It was a little pricier in comparison, but it included some meat toppings, so I think it works out to be about the same.
The only thing I wasn’t too fond of was the service. The place was busy, but service was especially slow. I had finished my meal for quite a while and it wasn’t until I stood up that they noticed that I was ready to leave. I was then asked to sit down again to settle the bill.
Overall, I quite enjoyed dining at Sorbillo and would go back again if I was in Naples.
