By far one of my favourite places from my entire trip is the Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest. On my first full day in Budapest, I took a bit of a detour and arrived at the Fisherman’s Bastion around sunset, just in time to enjoy amazing views of the sun splashing against the buildings in Pest.
After recovering from the initial amazement of seeing such beautiful views, I started to walk around and noticed that the views up at the top were just as amazing.
Some people say that Disney drew inspiration from Fisherman’s Bastion in creating the Disney castle, and you can see why as it does have quite the resemblance.
The next day, I joined a walking tour, which took me up to the Fisherman’s Bastion again. It was only then that I realized there were multiple ways of hiking up to the area, and that I had in fact taken a very long detour the first day. Although the views were still stunning, I would highly recommend heading up at sunset or sunrise. The views are that much better during those times of day.
