My last night in Italy was coming to a close as the Vapretto from Burano made its way back to Fondamente Nove Station. I decided to walk around Venice a little bit longer as the only place I’d spent on the main island was near St. Mark’s Square. I wandered the little alley ways and eventually found my way to Rialto Bridge for some views of the water. The views that were on display were exactly what I had imagined Venice to be like – rustic, beautiful, and calming with a charm unlike any other city.
After more than a week in Italy, I was ready to leave and to find out what was waiting for me in Austria. In the end, I’m glad I had saved Venice for last as it was definitely my favourite out of all the Italian cities I visited. On my very last vaporetto ride back to Piazza Roma, the setting sun showed up to say one last goodbye on my last night in Italy.
