I had made reservations at the Rome Best B&B on the Cross Pollinate website. It received rave reviews but I also knew it had only been opened for a very short time.
The B&B was relatively easy to find, as it was only about a 5-10 minute walk from Termini Station. It is located in a very quiet area, which made for a very good night’s rest.
Prior to arrival, the owner had emailed me and provided me with instructions on what to do when we arrived. We followed the instructions and had no trouble at all. A gentleman greeted us at the door and took us up the elevator to the 4th floor where the B&B was located. However, we were checking in quite early and they only had a room on the 1st floor available. We were fine with this as they told us that it was actually their nicest room we were going to be staying in.
The elevator is very typical of Europe where you can not fit more than 2 people and 2 suitcases, so the owner actually ended up taking the stairs and meeting us on the 1st floor.
Once the door to our room was opened, we saw a sitting area and 2 more doors. After entering the second door, we were pleasantly surprised with the very clean and nice room we were going to be staying in that night.
The only thing that could be improved on was the bathroom. It was very small and cramped so it was a bit uncomfortable. There basically wasn’t any room to put anything in the bathroom and you are best to leave everything in the room instead.
The owner was extremely detailed and offered us maps and directions as well as his personal cell number to phone him if we have any questions at all. He showed us how to work everything in the room and made sure we were comfortable before leaving. We needed to leave our bags at the B&B the next day as we didn’t plan on leaving Rome until the evening. The owner was kind enough to let us just leave our bags in the room and he transferred them to storage for us when he came in to clean the room. We actually ended up bumping into him at the breakfast cafe down the street and he confirmed with us once again what time we’d be back for our bags.
