Vienna left such a wonderful impression on me back in 2015 that I knew I wanted to visit it again when I made my way through Europe this time around. Although now completely on the way, I was willing to take the extra time to visit Vienna again, even if it was just for one night.
I left Ljubljana early in the morning and arrived into Vienna by the early afternoon. After dropping my bags off at the hotel, the first thing I did was venture over to Plachutta to have some Tafelspitz. This was one of my favourite meals in Vienna 2 years ago and I knew that I definitely wanted to try it again. This time around, I was not quite as impressed and found both the service and the food to be lacking, compared to a couple of years ago. I’m not sure if it’s only because I already knew what to expect, so I had high expectations. Regardless, it was still a very decent meal.
After lunch, I walked over to Hundertwasser House, a colourful and unique apartment building.
From there, I continued on to KunstHausWien, an equally unique building designed by the same artist.
It was already evening by this time and I somehow ended up near the Opera House and Albertina. This was a memorial place for me during my first trip, and I didn’t get to spend enough time there, so I was quite thankful that I got to see this place again.
The next morning started with breakfast at Café Central, where I enjoyed a delicious yogurt cake called the Honey Bee.
From there, I spent the morning walking around Graben and enjoying all the famous sites in the area.
I had made a reservation for an early lunch at Figlmüller for their famous schnitzel. More than the schnitzel, I remembered loving the potato salad at this place. I had planned to have lunch and then leave Austria so I made a reservation for 11am, right when they opened. Because it was so early, there were barely any other guests inside the restaurant.
Having had less than 24 hours in Vienna, I still made the most of it and thoroughly enjoyed being in the city again.
