The Peak is probably the most famous attraction in Hong Kong and every year millions of people make their way up to the Peak either via the Peak Tram or the local transportation options.
In the past few years, I’ve made my way up to the Peak at least 3 times. Aside from the views at the top, you will also find a mall with all sorts of shops, museums and restaurants.
The journey up to the Peak usually begins with the Peak Tram. From Central MTR station, it is about a 10 minute (slightly uphill) walk to the Peak Tram Terminal. Once you reach the terminal, you have the choice of purchasing just the tram ticket or a choice of several packages which would include a visit to the Madame Tussard’s Wax Museum and/or the Sky Terrace.
There is usually a long line awaiting the tram at the bottom of the hill. If the line gets too long, you can always opt to take the bus up the hill instead. In fact, the bus is much more comfortable, but the views aren’t as great as the tram. However, you’re going to see the views at the top anyways, so it’s not really that big of an issue.
At the top, the views are breathtaking and I found this especially true during a night visit. With the lights all light up, it was easy to see why many people often say Hong Kong has one of the best night views in the world.
Aside from the views, there is a great deal of shopping on the Peak, and many great restaurants as well. Madame Tussard’s Wax Museum is also a fun attraction, although the museum mostly holds wax models of Asian stars.
Even without all of this extra stuff, it is well worth the money to head to the Peak just for the views.
