Taejongdae (태종대) is officially called the Taejongdae Recreational Area, but this is a bit misleading as the way I define a “recreational area” seems to be a bit different from how Koreans define it. Taejongdae is essentially an outdoor hilly area popular with hikers and those that enjoy being outdoors. Also on the premises is a lighthouse, an observatory and a cruise terminal.
Known as one of Busan’s most famous sights, it is especially famous for its rock cliffs that face into the sea. We ended up spending most of our time on the cliffs, just sitting around and enjoying the sounds of the waves crashing against the cliffs.
The cliffs are tricky to walk on, so you must be very careful while maneuvering around them.
We didn’t climb the lighthouse, as the cliff area was large enough for us to spend a couple of hours just exploring and enjoying Taejondae.
