One of my oldest friends was visiting Hong Kong so we decided to head to an attraction in Hong Kong that neither of us had been to before. We met up at the Shatin MRT station and proceeded to find our way to the entrance of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery.
The Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery is not actually a monastery, because there are no monks residing there. It consists of a pagoda, a couple of pavilions and numerous golden Buddha statues. From the entrance, it is approximately a 15-20 minute climb up to the top and the entire path is lined with golden Buddhas on both sides. It appears to be a never ending display of golden Buddhas, which is quite a sight in itself.
Closer to the top of the hill, we started noticing other figures lining the path.
Once we reached the top, we discovered one of the pavilions and a great view of Shatin below.
This place isn’t very well known so it wasn’t very crowded at all. In fact, the entire time we were climbing the hill, we didn’t see anyone else. It wasn’t until we reached the top that we saw other people around. It was a nice, relaxing way to enjoy the intricacies of the golden Buddhas and made for an enjoyable afternoon.
