The Tang Paradise is a large park which is built close to a garden complex from the Tang Dynasty. There are many squares, gardens and beautiful buildings surrounded by several lakes. Perhaps because of the sheer size of the place, this felt like one of the least crowded places we visited in Xi’an.
It took quite some effort to get here, as it was required a long bus ride from the centre of the city. However, once we arrived, we were met with some of the most beautiful scenery of Xi’an. The gardens and ancient Chinese style buildings were all meticulously cared for and the atmosphere of the place was also very neat. The place is massive but everywhere we visited there seemed to be a performance of some sort. One of the most memorable performances was the lion dance that we saw. These dancers were jumping all over the poles and even performing flips and all sorts of tricks. Once the performance ended, they removed the lion’s head and we realized they were young boys, probably no older than 14 or 15!
Aside from enjoying the performances and the beautiful scenery, it is also a great place to relax. Because of the size of the park, if you intend to walk through the whole thing, you will need to have at least 3-4 hours.
