I don’t even know how many times I’ve been to the Venetian now. Maybe 4, perhaps 5? It was the first “major” hotel I visited in Macau, and that is likely because I had previously visited the Vegas version and wanted to see how similar it would be. The answer is that they are pretty much replicas of one another. The hotel displayed the exact same grandeur as its Vegas counterpart.
I had read that on any given day, the Venetian Macao has on hand a staff count of 10,000 employees. However, when you see the sheer massiveness of this place, you will easily understand why that number no longer seems surprising. The exterior included many elements of famous buildings in Venice, including the Doge’s Palace.
The only thing within the hotel that reminded me I was in Macau was that the exit signs were in Portuguese and Chinese. All other signage within the hotel was in English and Chinese. The waterway that ran between the high end shops offered the expected (and expensive) gondola rides. The hobby lobbies had extensive art on the ceilings, just like any important building in Italy.
On one of my subsequent trips to The Venetian, it was close to Chinese New Year’s, so all of the hotels had on big Chinese New Year displays. The displays were gorgeous, but a bit unfitting with the Venetian background.
The Venetian Macao is an amazing hotel and regardless of how many times I’ve ever been through the place, I always find myself wanting to see it again every time I’m in Macau.
