Our day started off at Laredo Taqueria on Snover Street. I had previously read many reviews about how great this place is and how long the line-ups always are. Sure enough, the line was out the door when we arrived, but it moved quite quickly and within 10 minutes or so, we were already sitting down at a table. All breakfast items were under $3.00 and I saw people ordering two to three of them. However, we just wanted a small breakfast (as we had bigger plans for lunch) and ordered one taco each.
The way they are set up, you almost feel like you are in a cafeteria as there is a big counter full of different trays of meat and fillings and a few ladies standing behind the counter ready to put together your order. I decided to try their famous barbacoa (cow cheeks) taco, and the reason that you know its famous is because they have small trays for all other meats but an enormous one filled with barbacoa.
It was nice to see how simple everything was The lady behind the counter took a tortilla wrap, added a little serving of beans, and then added one spoonful of barbacoa and my taco was completed. Sometimes the simplest things really are the best.
When you sit down, the wait staff immediately bring over two tall glasses of ice water and some salsa. We thought the green one was a mild guacamole but don’t be fooled, as it was way too spicy for us. Overall the tacos were a great breakfast – easy, simple and delicious.
