A bit of a mouthful, but that is the actual name of this famous tourist site we visited on our first morning in Hangzhou. So the story is, there’s an old legend that an Indian monk came to the valley and recognized the peak as being one that he knew from home, so he asked why the peak would come flying all the way from India to this place, and this is how the peak got its name.
The place was filled with stone carvings of Buddha, and we must have spent about 30 minutes looking for the one that was pictured on our admission ticket. For whatever reason, we just could not find it.
One of the areas are all of these overgrown trees, with branches intertwining with neighbouring trees. It was quite a site.
We also found Lingyin Temple (靈隱寺) which is one of the largest Buddhist temples in all of China.
After spending about an hour here, we had to leave to go back into town to meet up with an old friend. If it wasn’t for this, we probably couldn’t have stayed and looked around for another hour or so.
